About
Dr. Graham Mercier, a Georgia native, brings his experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques to Athens General & Colorectal Surgeons (AGCS). His clinical interests include robotics, anti-reflux surgery, minimally invasive hernia reconstruction, and colorectal surgery.
Dr. Mercier graduated from the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. During medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of his academic excellence. He then completed his General Surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, where he gained extensive robotic surgery experience across multiple subspecialties. MUSC was among the first institutions in the country to implement a structured robotic curriculum for surgical trainees.
Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Mercier is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Dr. Mercier is passionate about medical education and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he helps train future physicians and surgeons.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mercier enjoys taking his family hiking, visiting historical sites, and attending UGA athletic events.
