About this event
Life After Loss, a bereavement and grief support group providing mutual support for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
This group meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lobby Conference Room.
The support group is designed to help those who are experiencing the loss of a loved one work through their experience, express their feelings, and find support among others facing a similar loss. At each meeting, a facilitator will help pose thoughtful questions and guide discussion of healthy and meaningful ways to cope with grief.
The group will be facilitated by Jessica Chicken, manager of spiritual care with St. Mary’s Health Care System. Chicken holds master’s degrees in divinity and thanatology, a field focused specifically on grief and loss. She has more than eight years of experience as a hospital chaplain, including extensive work with grieving families.
Life After Loss is free and no registration is required. Meetings will be held in the Lobby Conference Room of St. Mary’s Hospital, 1230 Baxter St., Athens, which is easily accessible from the hospital’s Main Entrance. Parking will be validated at the end of each group session. There will be no session if the normal date falls on a holiday.
For additional information, please call (706) 389-3426. If Jessica is not at her desk, please leave a message and she will return your call as soon as possible.
