W. Dene Channell
Mr. Channell is the owner and manager of Channel Dairy, a beef cattle and hay farm that was a dairy farm for more than 20 years, and has deep family roots in Greene County. He is a veteran who served as a Demolition Specialist 5 in the Georgia Army National Guard from 1971-1977.
He is active in many public service roles in and around Greene County, including a committee Vice Chair of the Farm Service Agency; a member of the Board of Directors of Farmers Fire Insurance Co., of Morgan County; a member of the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association; a past President and past Vice President and 31-year member of the Greene County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and a member of the St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Board.
Past public service roles include: Greene County Board of Commissioners Chair; Greene County Board of Education representative for District 3; Greene County Board of Equalization Chari; Greene County Board of Tax Assessors member; Greene County Chamber of Commerce agriculture advisor; and USDA Farm Programs Administration (Greene, Hancock, Taliaferro counties). He also has coached youth baseball and basketball with the Greene County Recreation Department and served as a Foundation Board member with Minnie G. Boswell Hospital.
Mr. Channel graduated from Greene County High School and earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in Geology from the University of West Georgia before returning to manage the family farm.
